Our solution for disaster relief is centered on proactive planning and long-term community support. In cities where flooding is predictable and unavoidable, we aim to address not only the immediate impact but also the lasting effects on communities. Our pavilion is designed to be constructed in advance, placed on sites adjacent to flood plains but elevated above potential floodwaters.

During flooding, the pavilion transforms into a disaster relief hub, hosting modular shipping containers that serve as emergency shelters, medical stations, and logistical support centers. These containers "click in" seamlessly, creating a flexible and effective response system when disaster strikes.

Beyond its temporary role in emergencies, the pavilion also serves as a meaningful, permanent fixture in the community. Once the floodwaters recede, it stands as a symbolic reminder of resilience and recovery. A permanent chapel, incorporated into the pavilion’s design, will remain as a space of solace and emotional healing, offering ongoing support to the community long after the disaster has passed.
This project is not only about responding to natural disasters but also about helping communities rebuild, recover, and find lasting strength in the aftermath of their most challenging times.
